Researchers from the Faculty of Economics, University of Niš and members of the UR-WISE project team participated in the APORS 2025 Youth Forum, held at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and jointly organised by the Association of Asia-Pacific Operational Research Societies (APORS), the Operational Research Society of Hong Kong (ORSHK), and the Departments of Applied Mathematics (AMA) and Logistics and Maritime Studies (LMS) at PolyU.
APORS, a regional grouping within the International Federation of Operational Research Societies (IFORS), brings together operational research communities across the Asia-Pacific region to promote OR education, support national OR societies, and advance high-level research and applications in decision-making, modelling, and analytics.
Within the session “Strategies and Control Techniques”, UR-WISE researchers Jelena Stanković, Ivana Marjanović, and Marina Stanojević participated with their study titled: “National Innovation System Efficiency Assessed by DEA: Lessons for Policy and Growth.”
The research applies Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to assess the efficiency of national innovation systems in transforming R&D inputs into innovation outputs across both developed and developing economies. The study confirms DEA’s value as a benchmarking tool and highlights its potential to guide policymakers in improving innovation performance, strengthening resource allocation, and supporting sustainable, innovation-driven growth.
Participation in APORS 2025 marks another step in expanding UR-WISE’s presence in the global operational research community, aligning closely with the project’s mission to advance data-based policy analytics, foster international collaboration, and strengthen capacity for evidence-based decision-making.
