Kick-Off Meeting

UR-WISE Project Kicks Off

January 16–17, 2025

The UR-WISE project officially started with a successful two-day kick-off meeting held on January 16–17, 2025, at the Faculty of Economics, University of Niš (FEUN). As a Horizon Europe initiative, UR-WISE aims to enhance institutional capacities and research excellence, positioning FEUN as a key player in regional and European research networks.

The meeting gathered project team members, work package leaders, the Project Officer, and the ERA Chair holder to establish a shared vision for the project. Discussions focused on strategic objectives, implementation frameworks, and expected outcomes. FEUN’s Dean, Vladislav Marjanović, and Project Coordinator, Jelena Stanković, highlighted the transformative potential of UR-WISE in bridging regional disparities and reinforcing institutional capacities beyond capital city centers.

A key highlight of the meeting was the in-depth presentation by Project Officer Monica Hoek, who provided insights into the Horizon Europe programme and the ERA Chairs initiative. She outlined reporting obligations, financial management, and compliance requirements, ensuring project partners have a clear understanding of administrative and operational procedures.

Work package leaders presented their respective components, covering topics such as research excellence, structural enhancements, data-driven policy advising, and dissemination strategies. A dedicated session was held to finalize the project’s governance structures, including the establishment of the Steering Committee. Additionally, discussions on branding led to the selection of the UR-WISE logo, reinforcing the project’s visual identity.
