UR-WISE at the “My First Horizon Project” Event – Sharing Experience and Inspiring New Successes

June 15, 2025

At the invitation of the European Training Academy (EUTA), the coordinator of the UR-WISE project, Prof. Jelena J. Stanković from the Faculty of Economics, University of Niš, participated in the event “My First Horizon Project”. The event gathered around 70 researchers from 26 scientific institutions across Serbia, with the aim of encouraging and empowering the academic community to successfully apply for Horizon Europe funding.

During the panel discussion, Prof. Stanković shared her valuable hands-on experience in writing and managing Horizon Europe projects, with a particular focus on the challenges and benefits of implementing large international initiatives. She also presented the UR-WISE project, as the most significant and highest-funded project at the institution to date, spanning five years and focusing on strengthening research capacity, fostering international collaboration, and driving institutional reforms.

Participants had the opportunity to hear the insights of several experienced researchers who have already navigated the Horizon application and implementation processes, including representatives from the University of Novi Sad, University of Belgrade, and others. Topics covered included partnership building and consortium formation, research data management and open science, writing the Impact section, preparing project budgets, and strategic approaches to drafting successful proposals.

The event was marked by an open exchange of ideas, inspiring experiences, and a collaborative atmosphere among participants. The UR-WISE team extends its gratitude to the organizers for the invitation and the opportunity to contribute to strengthening Serbia’s research community.
