Advancing UR-WISE Research Excellence and Strategic Development under the ERA Chair Leadership

May 2026

The implementation of the UR-WISE project continues through intensive collaboration between the Faculty of Economics, University of Niš (FEUN), the UR-WISE research team, and the ERA Chair holder, Professor Aura Reggiani, Alma Mater Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Bologna. As part of the project’s regular activities, recent meetings and working sessions focused on reviewing ongoing achievements, coordinating future tasks, and further advancing the project’s research and institutional development agenda.

Throughout the reporting period, the UR-WISE team and Professor Reggiani worked closely on monitoring the progress of current activities, aligning upcoming assignments, and discussing the next phases of research development. Particular attention was devoted to strengthening international networking activities, preparing future research proposals, and advancing work related to data-based policy analytics and urban and regional development.

Discussions also focused on preparations for upcoming international collaborations, scientific conferences, workshops, and dissemination initiatives. In line with the project’s broader objectives, these activities contribute to strengthening FEUN’s position within the European Research Area through sustained cooperation with leading international institutions and research networks.

Alongside project coordination and strategic planning, Professor Reggiani continued to provide scientific guidance and mentorship to researchers and early-career team members, supporting capacity building, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the development of research excellence within UR-WISE.

Professor Reggiani’s ongoing engagement as ERA Chair holder remains a key component of the project’s institutional transformation efforts, helping to strengthen international partnerships, enhance research capacities, and advance FEUN’s long-term ambition of becoming a recognised centre of excellence in data-driven policy research and urban and regional development.
