UR-WISE at Clare Hall Cambridge 60th Anniversary: Strengthening International Academic Partnerships

Members of the Faculty of Economics, University of Niš and the UR-WISE project, Professor Jelena J. Stanković and Professor Vladislav Marjanović, together with ERA Chair holder Professor Aura Reggiani, participated in the 60th Anniversary Festival of Events at Clare Hall, University of Cambridge, held from 16 to 19 April 2026.

Celebrating 60 Years of Academic Excellence

The 60th Anniversary Festival of Events at Clare Hall, University of Cambridge brought together a distinguished international community through a rich, multi-day programme combining academic, cultural, and networking activities.

The programme featured a series of high-level lectures and intellectual exchanges, including keynote contributions by David Nirenberg (Princeton Institute for Advanced Study), Denis Lo (The Chinese University of Hong Kong), and Martin Rees (University of Cambridge), reflecting Clare Hall’s strong commitment to interdisciplinary research and global academic dialogue.

Alongside formal lectures, participants engaged in curated academic visits and discussions across Cambridge institutions, including the Fitzwilliam Museum, the Parker Library at Corpus Christi College, and the King’s College Chapel. The programme also included thematic sessions on art, science, and architecture, as well as a science showcase and networking brunch dedicated to research and innovation.

The anniversary celebrations were complemented by a series of cultural and social events, including concerts, receptions, and formal dinners, creating a dynamic environment for informal exchange and strengthening professional connections among participants.

Positioning UR-WISE within Leading Academic Networks

Participation in this landmark event represents an important step in strengthening UR-WISE’s engagement with leading research-intensive institutions in Europe. Clare Hall, known for its strong international and interdisciplinary research community, provides an ideal environment for fostering long-term academic collaboration aligned with the project’s objectives.

During the visit, the UR-WISE team engaged in a series of discussions with Clare Hall representatives, including Professor Alan Short, President of Clare Hall, focusing on opportunities for future cooperation. These exchanges build upon earlier networking activities and contribute to the development of a structured partnership within the UR-WISE framework.

Advancing Future Collaboration and Research Initiatives

The visit further advanced preparations for potential joint activities, including the organisation of future workshops, academic exchanges, and collaborative research initiatives. In line with UR-WISE objectives, particular emphasis was placed on knowledge transfer, interdisciplinary research, and the exploration of models for advanced research environments.

Participation in the 60th Anniversary Festival reinforces the international positioning of the Faculty of Economics, University of Niš within the European Research Area. By actively engaging in high-level academic networks, UR-WISE continues to build sustainable partnerships that support research excellence, innovation, and evidence-based policymaking in urban and regional development.
